Correspondence between Isabel Dame Bacon of Salt Lake City, Utah and her family in Medford, Mass. including her father Lorin Low, mother Nancy Isabel Arnold, and sisters Ruth Alden (later Coolidge), Olive (later Campbell), and Daisy Dame, 1900-1916. Letters describe Isabel's journey from Medford to Salt Lake City by way of Love, Colorado, visiting her husband's family in Chicago, Il., and working to promote education in Utah. Letters from her family describe the deaths of her father in 1903 and mother in 1916, and daily life in Medford. Also includes a receipt kept by Ebenezer Thayer, 1805, and a farm journal kept by an unidentified member of the Thayer family of Braintree, Mass. describing daily farm chores, 1851; a kindergarten journal kept by Isabel containing school lessons, mathematical equations, geometry exercises, and songs, 1888; a typescript of an essay written by Isabel recounting her experience visiting Finland in 1904; family genealogical papers, 1921-23; and a memorial published for Isabel following her death in 1933.

Between 1908 and 1909, Olive Dame Campbell assisted her husband, John, on a fact-finding mission regarding social and cultural conditions in Appalachia. While traveling through the region, Campbell noted that many of the local ballads had strong ties to English and Irish folk songs.
